To uphold the highest standards of academic excellence, all submissions to the Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities (JSSH) undergo a rigorous blind peer review process. This meticulous process is designed to ensure the integrity, quality, and validity of the research we publish.

Our commitment to excellence extends to providing authors with constructive feedback aimed at enhancing the clarity, rigor, and impact of their work. Through this collaborative approach, we aim to foster continuous improvement and scholarly growth among our contributors.

The peer review process at JSSH is characterized by transparency, fairness, and a steadfast commitment to upholding the highest ethical standards in academic publishing. By maintaining rigorous evaluation criteria and engaging expert reviewers, we strive to ensure that only the most rigorous and impactful research articles are selected for publication, thereby contributing to the advancement of knowledge in social sciences and humanities.

Authors' Responsibilities

  1. Originality and Prior Publication: Authors warrant that their manuscript is an original work that has not been published before and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere, either in printed or electronic form.
  2. Authorship and Contributions: Authors warrant that all who have contributed significantly to the manuscript are indicated as authors. All contributors who have made substantial contributions to the work must be listed as authors.
  3. Third-Party Rights: Authors warrant that the rights of third parties will not be violated and that the publisher will not be held legally responsible should there be any claims for compensation. Authors must ensure they have secured permissions for any third-party material used.
  4. Content Responsibility: Authors are exclusively responsible for the contents of their submissions and the validity of the results. They must ensure they have permission from all involved parties to make the data public.
  5. Permissions for Published Material: Authors wishing to include figures, charts, or text passages that have already been published elsewhere are required to obtain permission from the copyright holder(s). Evidence of such permission must be included when submitting their papers. Any material received without such evidence will be assumed to originate from the authors.
  6. Ethical Standards and Plagiarism: It is the responsibility of each author to ensure that papers submitted to this journal are written with ethical standards in mind and do not contain plagiarism. Authors affirm that the article contains no unfounded or unlawful statements and does not violate the rights of others.
  7. Error Correction: When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work, it is the author's obligation to promptly notify the journal editorial office or publisher. The author must cooperate to address the issue in accordance with COPE guidelines.

Editors' Responsibilities

  1. Publication Decisions: An editor is responsible for deciding which articles submitted to this journal will be published and in which issue. This decision is guided by the policies of the Journal's Editorial Board, taking into account the quality of papers, their originality, relevance, readability, and alignment with the journal's aims and scope.
  2. Guidance to Authors: The editor is obliged to provide clear and transparent guidelines for authors in preparing manuscripts for publishing. Detailed instructions for authors are available on the journal's website, ensuring that the submission process is straightforward and accessible.
  3. Guidance to Peer Reviewers: The editor is obliged to provide clear and transparent guidelines for peer reviewers, ensuring confidentiality of the peer review process and protecting reviewers' identities. Editors are encouraged to recognize reviewers' contributions through the Publons reviewer recognition platform.
  4. Reviewer Selection and Verification: The editor should send articles to verified reviewers available in the reviewer database. If additional reviewers are needed, the editor should verify their identity, email address, and subject expertise through comprehensive web searches to ensure their credibility.
  5. Ethical and Legal Compliance: The editor and the Editorial Board are responsible for adhering to legal requirements regarding libel, copyright infringement, and plagiarism. The editor must react to any justified suspicion of ethical misconduct in both published and unpublished papers, taking appropriate action in accordance with established ethical guidelines.
  6. Conflict of Interest: The editor must hold no conflict of interest with regard to the articles considered for publication. If an editor feels there is a potential perception of a conflict of interest, another editorial board member shall handle the selection of reviewers and all decisions on the paper. The editor is also responsible for ensuring that the identities of authors and reviewers remain anonymous to each other, upholding the integrity of the double-blind peer review process.

  2. Publication Ethics: Provide detailed information concerning our understanding of publication ethics and our implementation of these standards. Emphasize a proactive approach to preventing ethical misconduct rather than simply detecting it.
  3. Adherence to COPE Guidelines: Adhere to COPE's core practices and keep our editorial boards, publishing staff, and society partners updated with their guidelines and policies, adapting our own where appropriate to maintain ethical integrity.
  4. Verification of Originality: When necessary, request proof of originality and accuracy from the corresponding author of any work submitted to our journals. Ensure that all submissions are original and free from any form of plagiarism or ethical breaches.
  5. Plagiarism Detection: Use plagiarism detection software for any submission at any stage of the submission and publication process. This helps maintain the originality and integrity of published work.

  3. Timeliness: Reviewers are obliged to send the review report to the Editorial Board within two weeks upon receipt of the manuscript. Timely reviews are essential for maintaining the publication schedule and quality of the journal.
  4. Objectivity and Respect: Reviews must be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is deemed inappropriate. Reviewers are expected to express their views clearly, with supporting arguments, providing constructive feedback to help improve the manuscript.
  5. Expertise and Qualification: Reviewers should accept a reviewing invitation only if the manuscript is relevant to their expertise. If a reviewer feels unqualified to review the research work reported in the manuscript or knows that a timely review will be impossible, they should notify the Editor immediately.
  6. Communication: Seek advice from the editor if anything is unclear at the time of invitation and remain in good communication with both the publisher and the editor throughout the review process.

Reviewers should alert the Editor to any well-founded suspicions or knowledge of possible violations of ethical standards by the authors.

They should alert the Editor to substantial similarities between a reviewed manuscript and any manuscript published or under consideration for publication elsewhere, if they are aware of such.
  9. Parallel Submissions: Reviewers should also alert the Editor to a parallel submission of the same manuscript to another journal, if they are aware of such.

However, it is crucial to underscore that AI should be employed as a supportive tool, complementing rather than substituting human expertise and judgment.

Authors utilizing AI are reminded that they retain full responsibility for the content, interpretation, and originality of their work. While AI can enhance efficiency and accuracy, it is essential for authors to maintain oversight and ensure the integrity of their research findings. We recommend authors to transparently disclose any substantial use of AI in their research methodologies, promoting openness and upholding ethical standards in scholarly publishing.

Instances of plagiarism are taken very seriously and will be handled in accordance with the guidelines set forth by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). If plagiarism is detected, appropriate disciplinary actions will be implemented, which may include the retraction of published articles and the prohibition of future submissions from the offending authors.

At JSSH, we are committed to maintaining the credibility and trustworthiness of our publication by preventing and addressing academic misconduct rigorously. Our stringent policies against plagiarism aim to safeguard the integrity of scholarly research and uphold ethical standards in academic publishing.
